Rekom won the tender for transport and waste treatment for the Drammen-based company Renovasjonsselskapet for Drammensregionen IKS (RfD).

Rekom has handled this mission for RfD since 2011. The new contract is valid from January 2, 2017 to December 31, 2019 with the possibility of a one + one-year extension.

- All our contracts are awarded according to public procurement regulations. Our experience with Rekom from the previous tender period is positive, and we are pleased to continue our cooperation with them, says Gry Nessjøen at RfD.

There were three providers with a total of five offers in the tender process. The award criteria "price" and "environmental aspects of transport" were weighted with respectively 80 % and 20 %.

- We made a choice to use the environmental aspects of transport as an award criterion in addition to price. Rekom won based on this criterion, as they had short distances to their recycling plants, and their carrier uses HVO100 as the default choice of fuel, says Nessjøen.

25,500 tons of waste is to be collected on RfD’s three locations, before it is transported and recycled into energy by Rekom’s partners Åmotfors Energi AB and FREVAR KF. Rekom also cooperates with the carrier Stena Recycling AS.

- This contract is very important for Rekom, both because of its size, but also because we already have handled this mission for the past six years. This gives us considerable experience that we can use in the new contract period, says Ann-Helen Fjæreide, contract manager in Rekom.
